Analyzing the five prototypes to extract themes for further exploration

In the previous 5-in-5 installments, each day I created a prototype based on the concept of increasing self-efficacy. I prototyped an app for analyzing your success rate based on self-generated data, a pair of glasses that functions as a translation device, a belt that stimulates your vagus nerve during a panic attack, a lamp that soothes children after they have a nightmare, and a question-generating ring to help socially anxious people have a conversation.

Concept map derived from assessing the prototypes

There are three General Concepts derived from these prototypes.

  1. Leveraging artificial intelligence to ease the anxiety associated with an activity.
  2. Providing comfort and personal reflection by interacting with a uniquely tailored object.
  3. Invisible technology to help hide the stigma and shame associated with anxiety or deficiency.

Having suffered from crippling anxiety that I masked for decades, you can tell that I have a soft spot for helping those whose anxiety limits their potential for self-efficacy.

These Concepts are bridged by Three Domains to further explore

  1. AI in Healthcare
  2. Invisible Design
  3. Designing for Dignity

I plan to research these domains in order to answer this question:

How might I integrate voice-activated translation technology into modular wearable accessories?
